These events advance straight to IL CDC (the state competition). There is no preliminary competition. York is allowed 2 or 3 submissions based on the event. You must confirm your selection with a York DECA advisor before you begin. Students may only compete in one prepared event in addition to role play events and online events. Only previous state qualifiers are eligible to compete in these events.
DECA’s Business Operations Research Events provide opportunities for participants to demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed by management personnel. Students conduct actual research studies in their communities.
For 2026-2027 participants will collaborate with a local business or organization to research what drives customer loyalty and repeat engagement. Using the research findings, participants will develop a strategic plan to strengthen customer retention through loyalty programs, personalized experiences or relationship-building initiatives.
