Following the Illinois Career Development Conference (State Competition), the chapter officer application can begin.
Students interested in taking a leadership role in York DECA are encouraged to apply for officer positions. These roles provide an opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute to the growth of the chapter, and support fellow members in achieving success in DECA competitions and activities. Applicants should be dedicated, organized, and eager to help drive the chapter’s initiatives. While prior experience is beneficial, students who are new to DECA can still get involved, learn from current officers, and apply in the future when they feel more prepared. Taking on an officer role is a great way to enhance teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while making a lasting impact on the chapter.

DECA's Thrive Academy is a two day leadership development experience offered during ICDC (International Career Development Conference) for members who did not qualify through competition.
York DECA typically earns two spots for the Thrive Academy by completing Chapter Campaigns. Two additional spots might be available for also completing the Membership Campaign. See more about the campaigns here.
The Thrive Academy focuses on enhancing collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity among high-performing chapters.
Members who attend the Thrive Academy will travel with York DECA and attend all the additional activities while at ICDC. Members that would like to attend and are looking to take on a leadership role next school year should contact Mr. Haderlein to be considered.
