Inclusion team
We have a dedicated team of well-trained specialist teachers and support staff to support children who encounter difficulties accessing learning or with their well-being.
Mrs Cook is our SENCO and is keen to work in partnership with parents if they have any concerns around their child’s special educational needs. Beginning your child’s school journey is an exciting and daunting step and preparation if they do have needs is key. We would encourage you to make a phone call to the school office and book a meeting with Mrs Cook during the summer term if there is an area of need you are aware of e.g. social communication, speech and language or sensory needs.
Interventions take place daily to support pupils who need additional support with their learning. These take place in and outside of the classroom and with a member of the reception team. This is part of the quality first teaching we offer to all children.
Emotional wellbeing
Mrs Driver and Miss McDowell support pupils at Ellingham Primary school with their emotional wellbeing. We take part in a trailblazer project with the mental health support team and have access to creative therapies for children and support for parents whose children are experiencing low mood or anxiety.
Mrs Driver and Miss McDowell are trained as emotional literacy support assistants (ELSA) and offer sessions for pupils across the school when needed. We support children by helping them recognise emotions, raise self-esteem, develop social skills and friendship skills, understand and manage their anger and cope with loss and bereavement.
Mrs Driver and Miss McDowell are happy to talk through any worries you may have throughout your child’s time at Ellingham Primary School.
Safeguarding
Mrs Cook, Mrs Driver and Miss McDowell are part of the safeguarding team and are available to support families in times of need and are always approachable. The team will work with you and outside professionals, if needed to support you and your family. A meeting can be arranged via the school office or via email pupilsupport@elp.rbksch.org
