Mrs Keogh joined as the headteacher of Ellingham Primary School in September 2019 to instigate a series of school improvement initiatives to ensure that children's experience of education at Ellingham school is one that they, their families and teachers would be proud of. In it's simplest form this means getting the teaching and learning right so that every child achieves their true potential and providing positive memorable experiences of primary school life that they carry into the future.
In her previous school, Mrs Keogh introduced school improvements that helped move that school to a Good Ofsted judgement. Despite the interruptions and disruptions of lockdowns, we have made significant headway against the areas of improvement identified in the January 2018 Ofsted report:
a strong leadership team is in place with regular oversight of teaching and learning in the school
a regular programme of training is in place to ensure the teaching team's professional skills are maximised
investment in research-driven schemes and approaches to phonics, reading, writing and maths
comprehensive curriculum that is broad and progressive and offers children a wide variety of experiences
a culture of high expectations for every child in terms of progress from their individual starting points and their behaviour and well-being.
We strongly believe that children learn best when families and the school work in partnership. Newsletters, surveys and planned and ad hoc parent/teacher meetings ensure that there is regular and open dialogue.
