On this page you will learn about Biomes. The 8 different biomes we have learned about so far are: desert, rainforest, marine, savannah, tundra, temperate forest, grassland and freshwater. Each and every type of biome has unique characteristics to itself, which you can learn about.
The climate has a very dry place all year round and plants are struggling to grow because no rain ever comes! A desert biome is an area where the Sahara desert is often 50°C during the day. The world’s largest deserts are in the Arctic and Antarctic. There are four main types of desert biomes: hot and dry deserts, semi-arid deserts, coastal deserts and cold deserts. receives less than 25 cm of rainfall each year.
The marine biome is a fresh place found in oceans that has lots of life in it and is home to many fish it also is saltwater. These biomes belong to deep oceans. There are more than 10 million species as well as plants that are home to this biome.A cool fact is that the marine biomes is one of the most largest biomes in the world, bigger than any other biome. The biome is also separated into the coral reef, oceans and estuaries.
Savannas are like desserts and grasslands combined.Savannahs have grass and they have a lot of short flat headed trees. They have lots of sand too and they are kind of dry too. Many african animals have a habitat in there. It also is safe for humans to live there.
A Tundra Biome is a numbing biome which is dried up.
( An example of a Tundra Biome is the Arctic )
Some animals that live here are Snowy Owls, Arctic Foxes, Reindeers and more. All of these animals have little tails and ears that lessen heat loss. One of the animals that live in this biome is called a Caribou. These animals have multiple layers of fur to keep
them snug in the cold.Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. Tundra comes from the Finnish word tunturi, meaning treeless plain. It is noted for its frost-molded landscapes, extremely low temperatures, little precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons. Dead organic material functions as a nutrient pool.
A grassland biome is an area of open, fairly flat land that is mainly covered in grass. They are found in places that do not get enough rain to allow a forest to grow but are not dry enough to form deserts. Grasslands have different names in different parts of the world.
Grassland biomes are on every continent in the world except for Antarctica. They are often located between forests an
Freshwater has different seasons and the temperature is usually cool and a light breeze! The wildlife in the freshwater
