Welcome to Elkin City School's One-Stop-Shop for Professional Development
Flipgrid is a simple, free, and accessible video discussion experience for PreK to PhD educators, learners and families. Create a Topic and engage your community...together!
Welcome to Flipgrid! To receive your student’s videos, take 5 minutes to set up your account, and share your first Topic. Topics are discussion prompts that you create and your students respond to that prompt with a short video.
Go to https://admin.flipgrid.com and sign up with Google or Microsoft account.
Use your school provided email to sign up and provide some information about yourself and school.
To create Topic, add the Topic Title and prompt for your students. Topic Media is a good way to add reference material links, an image, or GIF to your topic.
Choose how students will join the Topic with Private or Public access.
Private access is for class discussions. Choose Student Email if your students have school provided emails. Choose Student Username if your younger students don’t have emails.
If you want to include families in your class discussion, then add a Guest Password.
Public access is primarily for adult educators and professionals to have broader community discussions.
Share the Join Code or link with your students, families or community. Educators can open the blue Share button to share the Join Code or Link to Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Remind, embed, QR code, or simply copying and pasting it to share with your learners in a different platform, such as email. If you created usernames for younger students or a guest password for families, make sure to share those too.
Students receive the join code or link and must log in with their email or username.
Families receive the join code or link and must log in with the guest password.
Adult educators and professionals in a Public Topic receive the join code or link and can view videos, but must log in with their email to record a video.
Welcome to Flipgrid! As a learner, you can create a video to submit to your educator in a few easy steps!
Student Emails- Students enter the Join Code or Link and join using Microsoft or Google accounts. Only those with a Microsoft/Google email that matches the educator's approved emails have access to view the Topic.
Student Usernames - Students enter the Join Code or Link and input their Student Username, which is created and assigned by the educator.
Your educator has given you one of these ways to join the right discussion:
a Join Code (e.g. FGrid3567, a591dc5d) or a QR code
a join link (e.g. https://flipgrid.com/FGrid3567 or https://flipgrid.com/a591dc5d )
If you don’t have a school-provided email, then you’re educator should also give you a unique Student Username or Guest Password
Flipgrid works on most web browsers and mobile devices. We recommend Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome for the best web experience. For easy access to Flipgrid, download the Flipgrid extension. On mobile devices, download the free Flipgrid app for iOS and Android devices.
Get to your educator's discussion by using the link or code provided by your educator in step 1.
If you were given a join link, click on that link.
If you were given a Join Code, go to your web browser and enter https://flipgrid.com. You’ll see an area to enter a Join Code. Type the Join Code and press enter on your keyboard. On a mobile app, enter the code.
If you were given a QR code, scan the QR code with your device camera or Flipgrid mobile app.
You’ll see a prompt to log in, enter a student username, or a password. If your Student Username or password are not working, be sure to double-check the case and space sensitivity.
