Monday trainings are 1 hour long sessions designed to improve teachers understanding of specific digital tools. Much of the information can already be found in short video tutorials on the Elkhart Ed Tech YouTube channel if you are looking to learn more, but do not have the time to come to a face to face session. For those desiring face to face training, use the link below to see a list of sessions currently available.
Phase I
Phase I
Teachers will receive a device after agreeing to participate in trainings focused on using technology to increase Engagement, Collaboration, Literacy and Problem Solving. These professional development opportunities will be taught in a blended learning environment by the district's instructional technology team and will include six hours of in person training and additional PGP hours based on work done outside of class.
- Teachers will familiarize themselves with a device and begin exploring ways to increase engagement in their classrooms
- Teachers will use a variety of tools that increase collaboration amongst students and teachers
- Teachers will be able to design lessons that allow students to capitalize on the use of Google Docs, Slides, and Canvas
- Teachers will be able to leverage Canvas to organize materials and assignments, give online quizzes, moderate online discussions and collect digital artifacts from students
Teachers must complete Phase I in order to enter Phase II.

Phase II:
Phase II:
After completing Phase I teachers will be eligible to start the professional development offerings that will lead them to receive 10 devices for their classrooms. This training will include deeper discussions on SAMR, lesson planning with technology, new online instructional tools and apps to use to facilitate transformational learning. The culminating event in Phase II will be teachers designing two lesson/units that transform learning through the use of devices as an instructional tool. After completing Phase II teachers will receive ten devices to implement the lessons they created during this phase.
- Teachers will be able to reflect on lessons that incorporate technology using the SAMR framework
- Teachers will learn a variety of digital creation tools students can use to demonstrate their learning
- Teachers will produce two lessons/units that incorporate technology in meaningful ways
- Teacher will learn how to constructively collaborate to provide feedback to each other about the lessons they create

Phase III:
Phase III:
Teachers wishing to complete the device cart will enter Phase III of the district's 1:1 professional development course. Teachers will record their lesson utilizing the devices and upload it to Canvas for teachers within the 1:1 cohort to view. A final day professional development will allow for self reflection and group discussions about how to improve these lessons moving forward. The culminating event for phase III will ask teachers to share their experience with others in the district in one of three ways:
- A Blog Post
- A Building Level Presentation,
- A Video Blog.
Once this culminating activity has been completed the teacher will receive a cart and the additional Chromebooks needed to provide a classroom set for their students.

All workshops will be delivered in the new Professional Learning Center locating in the garden level of the administration building. As you sign up, think about other teachers in your building or grade level that you might want to collaborate with during this process.

In 1:1 Phase trainings teachers will receive a device for themselves and their students to use as a result of this professional development. All other trainings will utilize a cart of devices reserved for use at the training site. Feel free to bring your own device to any district training if you prefer to use it instead.
