Are there extra hands-on activities I can incorporate into my units when time permits?
Hands-on Flextensions are optional hands-on investigations that can be integrated into many Amplify Science units. They are designed to extend opportunities for students to investigate, model, or design in physical and tangible ways. Check out this help article to determine which units include Hands-on Flextension activities and how to access resources.
Is there a visual map of key unit concepts and activities for each unit?
As students progress through the lessons and chapters of an Amplify Science unit, they’ll engage in multimodal activities and use a variety of evidence sources. Download your Coherence Flowcharts under the Printable Resources section at the unit level to access a powerful tool that will help you visualize how all the pieces of a particular unit fit together.
Did you know your articles and books have a read-aloud feature?
All books (for grades K–5) have a read-aloud feature available. Students can select the speaker icon to play and control an audio recording.
The Amplify Science Program Hub also offers a YouTube playlist of all grade K–5 books being read aloud by an adult. Simply go to the On-demand resources section, choose your grade level, then select Read-Aloud Videos.
Amplify Science: Live from the Classroom! On-demand webinars
Get an inside look at Amplify Science with our free on-demand Live from the Classroom series! In each webinar, you’ll get to experience an Amplify Science lesson taught in real classrooms at MSPCS in Miami, Florida. With a webinar for each grade, K–5, you’ll see how students engage with this phenomena-based curriculum.

How do teachers and students access Amplify Science?
Both teachers and rostered students can access the Amplify Science digital platform via the EGUSD Classlink portal. Look for the orange "A".
Students do not need to know their Amplify Science login or password since it is all done through Clever, a single sign-on provider.
If your icon does not work, it means that you do not have students currently rostered in a class that uses STEMscopes. In the meantime, you can access the demo account. Just follow these directions.
Where can I find videos of lessons?
In the Amplify digital platform, click on the "hamburger" (three bars in the upper left).
Scroll to the bottom and click on the "Science Program Hub." Then, select "Remote and hybrid learning resources."
You can access videos of teachers teaching the lessons, videos of the hands-on investigations, and read-aloud videos!
When will I get my materials?
The EGUSD Warehouse team is working as quickly as they can to get materials out to sites.
In the meantime, you can still implement the Amplify Science curriculum. Here are two possible options:
Use the @Home resources and lesson videos, as outlined in the Lesson Planners.
Contact Kelli to see if hands-on materials might be accessible in her hoarded stash of science stuff. 😉
What materials will I get?
To see what materials you will be getting, please reference the Implementation Kit Materials.
Student Investigation Notebooks are available for grades 2-5 only. In the first year of implementation, 2021-2022, these notebooks can be used consumably. In 2022-2023, a class set of notebooks will be provided for reference use only. A teacher copy of each notebook can be found in the materials kits.
Each class, grade 2-5, is provided with 18 copies of each reader. Classes will NOT be given extra. The limited number is because the readers are intended for use in paired/shared reading settings. *During this time of mitigating the spread of COVID-19, if you would rather not have the students sharing, students are able to access a digital form of the readers in the "Amplify Library" or you can assign the YouTube read-aloud.
What does "beta" mean on some of the units?
"Beta" indicates that that unit includes the NEW digital experience. In addition to Powerpoint slides or Google slides, teachers can use the new digital experience to present the lessons and assign student work digitally.
Teachers can control what students see and can monitor student work in real time.

Do I get my own kits?
Teachers will get their own kits, including hands-on materials and readers (18 copies per reader).
EXCEPTIONS:
K/1 combo teachers will get both grade-level kits. All other combo teachers will have to share kits with their grade-level colleagues.
Self-contained Special Education teachers will receive science curriculum and kits for one grade only, as selected by the Special Education Department.
Will the district replenish consumable hands-on materials?
Kits should last 2-3 years. At the end of year 2, data will be collected to determine the need to replenish kits centrally or not. *If teachers do not use the materials, there will be no need to replenish; but if teachers teach the curriculum, we will have a need!
How can I access the Benchmark Assessments?
The NGSS Benchmark assessments are built to be delivered after specific units in the recommended Amplify Science scope and sequence. Please see below for recommended sequence and file downloads.
