Ceramics One StudentShape & Coil Technique - Inspired by Gustav KlimtCeramic vessel by Natalie CamThis course is designed as an introduction to the basic skills and processes of ceramics. Students will be taught the fundamental methods of working with clay, including hand building techniques, decorating and glaze application, and firing techniques. The work of contemporary ceramic artists as well as ceramic cultural art history will be included in the course of study. Introduction to the Potter’s wheel will begin during the second semester. This course is required for Honors and AP 3-d portfolio.

Students will work with the fundamental methods of digital imaging, including the use of Adobe Photoshop. The work of contemporary photographic artists as well as photographic cultural art history will be included in the course of study.

This course is designed as an advanced level course to provide students with skills and techniques beyond the basic fundamentals. Students will be taught advanced methods of working with art materials, including collage, graphite, colored pencils, ink, paint and watercolor. Students will be encouraged to explore various art materials individually and collaboratively (mixed media). The work of contemporary artists as well as cultural art history will be included in the course of study. This course includes Art 2, Art 3, Honors and AP 2-D portfolio.

This course includes Honors Ceramics and AP 3-D Studio Art (Ceramics)
