In this assignment students are introduced to each art element and art principle. Students use thier cell phone cameras on campus to photograph each of the art elements and art principles.
In this assignment students select a small space off campus to do a series of photographs of each of the Art Element using their cell phone cameras. Student apply skills learning in the Smartphone Editing unit to crop for the Rule of Thirds and enhance the lighting, color, and details of thier photographs
Begining in the second quarter, students are introduced to Photoshop. After a series of basic introductory activities students use selection tools and the move tool to resize, rotate, skew, squish, and flip selections in an effort to create a portrait in the style of 16th century Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Students are also introduced to the dodge and burn tools and the element of form is discussed
In this assignment students use a series of photographs they have taken and arrange them independently in Photoshop to create a realistic three dimensional scene in the style of modern artist Sandy Skoglung. Photoshop is used to create a color wheel and students select a specific color theory and colorize selections using layered masks in Photoshop.
Begining in the second term, students use the Digital SLR in manual mode to take photographs. In this assignment students use the DSLR in manual mode to capture extreme close ups of both man-made objects and objects from nature. Students use Photoshop to crop, apply color edits, and increase the sharpness of the photograph.
