Welcome to the new school year!
*I will post a newsletter under the "Newsletter" tab each Thursday.*
Math:
- Students completed a series of beginning of the year math placement tests. One part of their assessment was math fluency. There were a few questions about Xtramath at back to school night, after looking over their math fluency scores, I determined that it would be pointless for students to complete Xtramath (again) IF they were able to pass their fluency assessment with a score of 90% or higher in all math fact categories (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). If your student did not score 90% or higher in ALL of these categories, please have them practice their math facts on Xtramath each night. Remember, beginning of the year awards require students to successfully pass all math fact categories with a score of 90% or more.
- Addition - students needed to earn a score of 23 or higher (if they earned 22 or less, please have them begin practicing on Xtramath next week, after we practice logging on to the website tomorrow)
- Subtraction -students needed to earn a score of 23 or higher(if they earned 22 or less, please have them begin practicing on Xtramath next week, after we practice logging on to the website tomorrow)
- Multiplication - students needed to earn a score of 73 or higher (if they earned 72 or less, please have them begin practicing on Xtramath next week, after we practice logging on to the website tomorrow)
- Division - students needed to earn a score of 45 or higher (if they earned 44 or less, please have them begin practicing on Xtramath next week, after we practice logging on to the website tomorrow)
You can find your student's scores on your ParentVue account under the grade book. Please note, the beginning of the year fluency scores WILL NOT count against your student's grade. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at Kaarmstr@egusd.net
