When can I return textbooks?
You can return textbooks or library books any time the library is open. Our
Hours are M, T, Th, F from 8:00 to 3:45 and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 3:45.

Which textbooks need to be returned and which do not?
All hardcover textbooks need to be returned at the end of term. Soft cover workbooks do not need to be returned. Exceptions: AP textbooks are checked out for the entire year. There are a few classes for AP that have soft cover workbooks that ARE returned as well as Medical Pathway soft cover workbooks. Any workbooks that you received for either of these two exceptions are NOT to be written in and must be returned.
What happens if I’ve lost a textbook?
If you’ve lost a textbook there are a few options. You can pay the library directly by cash or check, or you may choose to replace it by purchasing online. You MUST first see Mrs. Hoblitzell first if you choose to replace. Do NOT replace it without seeing us first.
What happens if I’ve lost a workbook?
If you’ve lost a workbook, visit the library to purchase a replacement. Replacement cost varies from $20 to $30. We at times have used copies that are acceptable for reuse and we will gladly give you one of those free of charge if we have any.
I am withdrawing from Cosumnes Oaks. What do I need to return?
You’ll need to return all hardcover textbooks. Keep your workbooks if you are transferring to another EGUSD school. We may ask that you return workbooks if you are transferring out of district.
My teacher lets us leave our textbooks in class. How do I know which one is mine?
We recommend never leaving your textbook in class where many students have access to it. check your library account to verify the correct barcode inside YOUR textbook. Barcodes can be found on the first page of textbooks. Follow the link in question #2 to access your library account. We also mark textbooks with the last 4 digits of t he barcode on the bottom edge for quick reference.
Can I get a second set of textbooks?
If you have a valid doctor’s note for the current school year stating a medical reason, you may check out a second set. Otherwise, the district does not have enough textbooks to accommodate students wanting 2nd sets.
I let my friend borrow my textbook and now they no longer have it. What should I do?
We recommend that you never lend your textbooks to anyone. Try to get the book back, but if you are unable to, please understand you are still financially responsible for the book, regardless of who lost or damaged it.
I accidentally damaged my textbook. What can I do?
Please bring the textbook to the library. We can assess the damage. Most damage fees are minimal. However, if you get your textbook wet and it swells or molds then it is the full replacement cost as we can no longer circulate the book.
Do you charge late fees for books?
No, we do not charge late fees for textbooks or library books that are returned late. You may be placed on the No Privileges List for overdue items on your library account which will prevent you from attending sporting events, dances, field trips, etc. Clear your account by returning late books or pay fines associated with lost items.
