4th Grade Music

Welcome to 4th Grade Music!

4th graders are starting to think more critically and delving into bigger and more concise ideas of music. We are going to be playing more instruments and will continue to work on practicing to make performances the best that it can be. 4th graders still get to play lots of music games to make learning fun!

Daily Video

This week September 7th-17th:

The first day we did an "Introduce Yourself" rap. We got to share something we liked with our class and found that a lot of us like similar things. We also got to practice self control and our ability to keep the beat with the game Big Foot.

We also did our Composer of the Month: Frederic Chopin. He lived in France and was one of the best piano players to ever live! We also listened to snippets of his work where we had to show and describe in words what his work was like.

We learned a new song called, "Dum, Dum, Da, Da". There are actions that go to the song but Mrs. Kamen had us first really learn the song by walking to the beat, skipping to sections of the song that skipped, and then moving our arms wide when there was a long note. We are going to learn a new rhythm sequence at the end of the week.

We reviewed our rhythms this week today. It's been awhile so some of us needed a refresher but Mrs. Kamen said we were going to get some review and practice in.

Mrs. Kamen is also having us review the treble clef note names from last year. In a couple weeks we are going to get recorders and she says we will need to know the note names.
