Local Career Interviews

The Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce  provides video resources for students to hear from local professionals in various careers.  “Connect with Careers" is the result of focus groups and feedback from businesses and educators about the immediate need of students to connect with professionals from a variety of industries and backgrounds. Students will gain insight from the shared stories of these professionals, including the importance of transferable skills and non-linear paths to career success.

HVCC Micro-Credentials

Micro-credentials can help students get on a fast track to skilled careers without having to complete a full degree first. These stackable sets of credit-bearing courses provide students with a way to gain specific career skills in the short terms and can be used as an entryway to a degree or certificate OR as a standalone verified credential. 

Micro-credentials exist in Community Health Worker, Intro to Accounting, Medical Billing and Coding, Intro to Data analytics, and Fashion Design to name only a few.

Questar III has introduced a new program supporting the region's workforce development pipeline, providing businesses who have immediate full-time, entry-level employment needs the opportunity to connect with high school seniors in multiple school districts who are interested in learning about post-graduation jobs.
