Project Outline:
Canada’s National Museum of History is adding to its exhibits to present a more comprehensive display of early European exploration of Canada. The key message of the display is to consider the impact or the ‘footprint’ that each explorer left behind.
As an intern curator at the museum, you are part of a team working on developing the content for the exhibit. Each member of the team will select one British and one French explorer.
For each exhibit, you will need to do the following:
Describe Historical Context
For your selected British and French explorer, provide information about:
Analyze Imperialism
In your analysis, consider the following questions in relation to your selected British and French explorer.
Evaluate the connection to Canadian Identity
You will be using the mapping program, Story Mapping on ArcGIS. You will tell the story of your explorer using the perspectives of at least two other people.
The process of creation is:
1. Complete background research (to be submitted before moving forward)
2. Establishment of an outline (planning)
3. Mastering the technology (using the Story-Mapping software)
4. Transferring your research from the outline to the final product
