Your Task: For this task you will work individually, in pairs, or in a group of 3. Please complete the following steps.
- 1. Choose any famous building (or structure ... could be a bridge, statue, mosque, etc.) from around the world
- 2. Identify it's basic structural form (frame, solid, shell, or combination). If it is a combination, list at lease 3 parts of your structure, and what type of structural form they are.
- 3. What is the function of these structures?
- 4. Identify features of your structure that were inspired by nature. (Google Gaudi if you want examples of this)
- 5. What materials did this structure use?
- 6. How do you think the engineers and architects of this structure considered safety?
- 7. What features of this structure add to the aesthetic appeal?
- 8. If you could change anything about this structure what would it be?
- 9. Were there any flaws with your structure? (For example, the ROM in Toronto)
- 10. Can you list any fun facts about your structure? How much it cost? How long it took to build? Etc.
The Final Product: Please put together a powerpoint of other form of presentation that uses technology effectively to show your ideas.

- This outcome will assess how well you organized your work in your presentation, and how effectively you communicated your understanding. Was your presentation easy to understand? Did you incorporate images and texts to convey information?
- Science - Understands and makes connections between concepts 4 3 2 1
- This outcome will assess the accuracy of your information and how evident your understanding of the content was. Is it clear that you understand the information about your building? Have you become an expert on your structure?
- Science - Develops skills for inquiry and communication 4 3 2 1
- This outcome will assess how well you do your research. Did you include all important information? Was it provided in detail?
