The goal of creating questions is for the reader to grasp the information being presented and extend their personal understanding of what is being communicated. Aim to create questions which test a range of depths of understanding. Classify your questions into categories of 2,3 and 4 level understanding.
Examples:
A 2 level question would be more memorization or 'informational' (remember, understand)
A 3 level questions would be taking the information given and beginning to apply and analyze the text.
A 4 level questions would involve evaluating information and creating new understandings through seeking the answer to the question. This will often involve making personal connections (Research would likely be necessary)
I recommend using sticky notes at first and them moving your questions into categories as you begin to get the hang of this process.
This time is to be used as review for your Social Studies Quiz (Tomorrow, March 3rd)

Defending Canada
There is no compulsory military service in Canada. However, serving in the regular Canadian Forces (navy, army and air force) is a noble way to contribute to Canada and an excellent career choice (www.forces.ca). You can serve in your local part-time navy, militia and air reserves and gain valuable experience, skills and contacts. Young people can learn discipline, responsibility, and skills by getting involved in the cadets (www.cadets.ca).
You may also serve in the Coast Guard or emergency services in your community such as a police force or fire department. By helping to protect your community, you follow in the footsteps of Canadians before you who made sacrifices in the service of our country.
