The Costumed School program explicitly teaches many aspects of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, Levels 5 & 6. The program also acts as a springboard for further learning. Resources that support the teaching of History, Personal & Social Capabilities, and Respectful Relationships can be found under the Pre and Post-Visit Activities tabs.
Please note: resources are currently being reviewed to ensure that they meet the goals of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
The Costumed School program is designed and facilitated by fully qualified teachers who hold current VIT registration.

The Costumed School experience is a wonderful springboard for student reflection and rigorous class discussions in:
Personal and Social Capability, including explanations of how personal strengths and coping strategies assist students to achieve success and overcome challenges; in their ability to follow instructions, work independently or with a partner; and support their peers in a positive and respectful way
Intercultural Capability, including references to interactions between settlers, Chinese immigrants and our First Nations Peoples on the diggings
Ethical Capability, involving ethical principles of the past compared to those of the present, with a focus on the influence of cultural norms, religion and world views of the times
Critical and Creative Thinking experiences and tasks which examine questioning, thinking and reasoning techniques, clarifying information and ideas, and setting aside preconceived ideas
Teachers may also use their students' Costumed School experience to make judgements regarding student achievement in the above curriculum areas.
