LOTE

At Lara Lake Primary School, students begin to learn Indonesian from Prep.

Students participate in guided group activities such as games, songs and simple tasks, using movement, gesture and pictures to support understanding. They learn how to communicate in simple phrases and sentences to share information about themselves, family and interests. Units of work are linked to Inquiry topics where possible to establish cross curricular links.

Students also begin to develop an Intercultural Understanding, learning about Indonesian culture, religion, daily life as well as animals and the natural environment. They are encouraged to comment on similarities and differences and make connections to their own personal worlds.
