Kinder to Prep Transition

Beginning school is an exciting time for everyone in the family. School transition is imperative to ensure a smooth start to your child's education. At Lara Lake, we work collaboratively with the kindergartens in our community to ensure that we learn as much about your child/ren as possible. Furthermore, your child will participate in transitions sessions to enable your child to work with a range of teachers and other new students to get a feeling for the types of activities they will encounter as they begin school in 2021. It also enables your child to become familiar with the staff, environment and other students so that 2021 will be as smooth as possible.

School readiness is priority. Personal independence and simple interpersonal skills are two indicators of your child's readiness for school. It is expected that your child is able to competently toilet themselves, pack and unpack their bag, take their jumper off and put their jumper on, communicate in complete sentences and be able to separate from a parent with ease. This skills support your child to enter school with confidence so that we can teach their academics.
