Adaptation: Is the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment.
List some animals or plants that you think have had to adapt overtime to their environment.
Have a go at the eight questions (left) looking at adaptations in ocean animals.
Split class into two groups and complete each activity below in a rotation. Each activity should take 20-25mins to complete.
What organisms eat: Split class into 7 small groups. Place the attached sheets on the wall in 7 different areas around the room and allocate each group a few minutes at each station to read and answer the questions. This activity should be allocated 20-25minutes to complete.
Before starting, Talk about the following types of eaters.....
Specialist feeder: A specialist species can thrive only in a narrow range of environmental conditions or has a limited diet.
Carnivore: An animal that feeds on other animals.
Herbivore: An animal that feeds on plants.
Omnivore: An animal or person that eats a variety of food of both plant and animal origin
Parasite: A parasite is an organism that lives on or in a host organism and gets its food from or at the expense of its host.
