Today we are learning to make a balloon rocket and a bottle rocket.
So that we can understand what pushes the rockets forwards or upwards.
We will be able to explain the forces that caused the rockets to move.
Task 1 Practical Experiment: Watch the clip below on Ballon Rockets and complete the experiment. Equipment you will need is string, drinking straw, balloon, sticky tape and chairs to set up on. Your teacher will video your rocket in action. (Teachers: Please complete risk assessment prior to completing experiment.)
Good Luck.
Task 2 Practical Experiment: Watch the clip below as a whole class on Bottle Rockets and complete the experiment. Equipment list is below. (Teachers: Please complete risk assessment prior to completing experiment and teachers will need to set off the rockets with students at a safe distance.)
Good Luck.
In the website link below, once open, type into the search bar, Film Cannister Rockets and the experiment will come up. This experiment aligns with the risk assess.
To do this you will need the following supplies:
An empty, rinsed softdrink bottle
Baking Soda (aka sodium bicarbonate, heaped tablespoon)
Vinegar (1-2 cups per group)
Paper towel
A cork (or substitute something like a pool noodle piece, a cork will give more power to your launch!)
Your newly constructed launchpad
A nice big open space
