This page contains information about subjects taught to Year 7 and 8 students at Kyneton High School.

Our Junior Years curriculum is designed to allow students engage in a breadth of core curriculum whilst exploring and experiencing learning in specialist areas in the Arts, Digital Technologies and Design Technologies.

Core Subjects

At Kyneton High School, the Junior Years core subjects are English, Maths, Humanities, Science, Health & Physical Education, Indonesian and Home Group.

Core subjects run across a full year. A description of each of these subjects can be found on the side menu.

Rotation 'Taster' Subjects

In Year 7 & 8, Students engage in our Arts and Technologies Taster Program. 

Over the two years, they will take part in one semester of each of the following subjects: 

Arts rotation: Year 7 Art & Design, Year 7 Drama, Year 8 Art & Design, Year 8 Drama. Alongside the timetabled subjects, students may take part in the Instrumental Music taster program. 

Technologies rotation: Digital Technologies, STEAM, Cooking, Design Technologies (Woodwork and Engineering)

Students can then decide how they would like to build on learning in these areas through the elective program in Years 9 & 10.

The Year 7 & 8 Timetable structure is as follows. Each period is one hour long, and there are five periods in a day. PPW = Periods per week.
