Book review: "Hello Lighthouse" by Sophie Blackhall
Review by David, Grade 5, 21/11/25
“Hello Lighthouse’’ by Sophie Blackhall is a wonderful story that shows how difficult living in a lighthouse can be. It shows all the ecstatic moments and bad moments throughout the story. This story is really good. I would really say you should read it. I would read it everyday or every week. This story is about the process of living in a lighthouse with no friends.
How hard a lonely life can be living in a lighthouse with no one to hang out with? There are no friends to play or talk with. Even with all these challenges the lighthouse remains strong. All these events ram into the lighthouse but it just doesn't give up.
This book has bright colours in the book which shows it is positive, but the theme is more of loneliness and how hard it is living in a lighthouse.
I recommend this book to Years 5 and 6 because it doesn't have that many words which would be hard to imagine. It would be hard to make an inference on it. I believe students will like this book because it has bright and cool colours.
