Subject description:  

Photographic and Digital Media in Years 7–10 invites students to explore the exciting world of still, interactive, and moving images, combining creativity with cutting-edge technology. Through making and studying photographic and digital works, students learn to express their ideas, reflect on their own experiences, and engage with contemporary forms of communication. They investigate the evolution of photography and digital media, exploring the work of photographers, filmmakers, digital artists, and media creators from diverse cultures, times, and places. Students develop technical skills in ICT and creative production while building a personal portfolio that showcases experimentation, research, and informed artistic choices. By examining how beliefs, values, and contexts shape visual storytelling, and how artists, audiences, and the world connect, students gain a deeper understanding of media’s power to influence, inspire, and communicate in the 21st century. 

Photographic and Digital Media is an elective course that can be studied for 100 or 200 hours at any time after the completion of the Visual Arts 100-hour mandatory course. 

Students are required to produce a Photographic and Digital Media portfolio and keep a Photographic and Digital Media journal.
