Subject description:

Commerce will equip you with practical skills you can use now and later in life. Students that have studied this course have stated that this is one of the most valuable courses they have ever taken at school. It helps you understand and become confident in the world of work, finance, business and the law.

This course involves the use of a wide range of ICT, also building your skills in software such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. You will get to undergo a range of real-life simulation competitions such as the ASX Share Market Game. Contemporary case studies are also used to keep the course relevant to the real world.

This course is excellent preparation for Business Studies and Legal Studies.

Areas of study:

Law and Society and Law in Action including learning how laws are created and changed, rights and responsibilities of individuals in society. Current legal issues and cases are considered.
Investing including investment options, developing an investment portfolio, monitoring and controlling investments.
Employment Issues including the commercial and legal aspects of employment issues by focusing on the options, rights and responsibilities in the work environment.
Travel including how to plan for travel and solve problems encountered when travelling.
