Aboriginal Studies gives students the opportunity to learn with and from the world’s oldest living cultures. Through community-based learning, students gain insights into Country, culture, spirituality, and the importance of self-determination. Year 9 Japanese is perfect for students who are curious about other cultures, enjoy meeting new people, and want to explore fresh ways of thinking. Building on the skills developed in Year 7, this course gives you the confidence to communicate in everyday situations like shopping, school life, routines, and hobbies.
You’ll read and write in hiragana, katakana, and kanji, while exploring how culture shapes language - including your own. Along the way, you’ll grow soft skills employers value, like empathy, problem-solving, and communication. Expect hands-on learning through games, roleplays, and cultural experiences like calligraphy, crafts, cooking, and a possible Japanese restaurant visit.
