Functions performed by the following hardware components used in communication systems (See Course Specifications Document)

The components used in communication systems (listed in course specifications) are the following:

• hubs and switches
• routers
• modems
• bridges and gateways
• Network Interface Cards (NIC)
• mobile phones
• cables
• wireless access points
• Bluetooth devices

Students learn to:

• describe the location and role of hardware components on the network
• compare the functions of different hardware components
