How many movies?
Duration: 1:37
Adapted from the work of Robert Kaplinsky
It's your turn!
It’s a hot day outside and you and your parent/guardian wants to cool off by going to the theatre to see some movies. The longer you stay at the movie theatre, the longer you will stay cool.
Use the movie timetables below to answer the following questions.
Pick one cinema and create a schedule that shows the most movies you could see in one day.
Hint! You need to leave a minimum of 15 minutes between each movie to allow time to exit one theatre and get to the next.
How many movies could you see in one day?
Make a guess that is too low.
Make a guess that is too high.
What information would be useful in figuring this out?
How can you tell when a movie will end?
How will you organise your schedule so that it is easy to follow?
Would you be able to see more movies if you picked the other cinema?
AMC Movie Theatre
Galaxy Cinema
If you were to watch 'Monsters Inc' and 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', how many minutes would you be watching a movie for?
Hint! Remember, 60 minutes = 1 hour.
Which is a better option to spend the most time watching movies:
Option 1: 'Monsters Inc' (1 hour 32 min) at 11.30am followed by 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' (100 min) at 1.20pm; or
Option 2: 'Cars' (1 hour 27 min) at 12.50pm followed by 'Finding Nemo' (100 min) at 2.30pm?
Your challenge is to use this tip to help you solve the main task.
Each movie has 20 minutes of advertising and previews before the movie starts.
If you could come into the theatre 20 minutes late would this change your schedule so that you could watch more movies?
If the two theatres were next to each other and you could walk between them, how many movies could you watch?

Design a floating craft – Part 3
Duration: 2:19
Have a go!
Use your plan and the recycled materials to create a floating craft. You might need an adult to help you.
Test your floating craft by placing it in a tub of water.
Did it float or sink?
Important! Check with an adult before you fill any tubs with water or place objects into the water.
Example – floating craft made from recycled materials
Challenge!
If your craft floats, try adding small objects to it, like marbles or small stones. How many objects can it hold?
If it sank, think about what caused it to sink. Try again with a different design or using different materials.

We Are
Music: Count Us In 2019 Program
Music and Lyrics: B. Cavanagh/A. Farnan/J. Foreman/S. Mlaih/R. Nair/J. River
[Verse 1]
We're losing faith
And things won't change
Stuck inside a rainy day
The road is long
We stay strong
We can find a better way
[Pre-Chorus]
All we need is a little music to lift our spirits high
Stop and listen to the rhythm and just remember...
[Chorus]
We are people
We are more
We raise voices
We are strong
We sing songs
We're musical like
La da da da
Go to space
We're astronauts
Fireworks about to burst
We light up the universe
Like la da da da da
[Post-Chorus]
You're not alone
You're not alone
Just let the music take you home
You're not alone
You're not alone
Just let the music take you home
[Verse 2]
Why can't we see a better dream?
Put our differences aside?
Turn it round
The sun is found
Sing together side by side
[Pre-Chorus]
All we need is a little music to lift our spirits high
Stop and listen to the rhythm and just remember...
[Chorus]
We are people
We are more
We raise voices
We are strong
We sing songs
We're musical like
La da da da
Go to space
We're astronauts
Fireworks about to burst
We light up the universe
Like la da da da da
[Post-Chorus]
You're not alone
You're not alone
Just let the music take you home
You're not alone
You're not alone
Just let the music take you home
[Bridge]
Hey-o hey-o hey-o hey-o
Hey-o hey-o hey-o hey-o
Hey-o hey-o hey-o hey-o
La da da da da
Hey-o hey-o hey-o hey-o
Hey-o hey-o hey-o hey-o
Hey-o hey-o hey-o hey-o
La da da da da
[Chorus]
We are people
We are more

You're not alone
You're not alone
Just let the music take you home
You're not alone
You're not alone
Just let the music take you home
