A hat is an essential piece of sun safety equipment for your child.
Your child must bring a hat to school every day.
If your child misplaces their school hat, please ensure they take a different hat to school instead.
Your child will need a large bag at school.
Your child is now responsible for their own possessions and learning materials. They will need a large bag to help them stay organised and assist them in not losing their clothes, lunch box, water bottle, reading folder, books, news items or other possessions - typical preschool bags are not suitable for school.
It is not necessary to purchase the Ryde Public School bag, but parents usually do because they are specifically designed with many separate compartments and suit the needs of school-aged children (and parents and teachers).
There are three eating breaks during the school day:
Fruit/vege break (in the classroom)
Lunch -11.00-11.10 (eating in the classroom): 11.10-11.50 am playtime, outside
Recess (outside) 1.50- 2.20pm
Your child needs food for each of these three breaks. Your child needs to be able to open and close their own food containers.
If you are sending packets of food to school for your child, please help them practice how to open these packets. You may like to make a small cut in the packet to make opening easier.
Is a school-wide healthy eating initiative to encourage all students to eat fruit and vegetables regularly. Fruit/vege break occurs every morning during learning time from 8.55-11.00am.
Please supply your child with a small fruit or vegetable snack and a bottle of water every day.
