Mr Dave Haggart
Principal (relieving)
As we reach the end of another successful term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the achievements of our students, share some important updates, and look ahead to the upcoming term.
A Great Term of Achievements
This term has been marked by numerous accomplishments across all year levels. From outstanding performances in academic assessments to remarkable achievements in extracurricular activities, our students have shown exceptional dedication and enthusiasm. Highlights include:
Academic Excellence: Many students have excelled in their studies, with several receiving awards for their outstanding achievements. Each Year group had an end of term awards assembly on Tuesday. It was great to see so many award recipients.
Sports and Arts: Our grade sport students and Athletic teams have competed valiantly in various competitions.
Community Engagement: Students have actively participated in community service projects, demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact around the school.
A big thank you to Angela Lalopoulos for organising our school Biggest Morning Tea to raise awareness and support for reducing the effects of cancer.
We are incredibly proud of our students and their hard work this term.
Winter Weather and Uniform Requirements
As we move into the colder months, it's important to ensure that students are appropriately dressed for the winter weather. Please remind your children to wear their school uniform in accordance with the school's uniform policy, including:
Warm Layers: School-approved jumpers and jackets. NO Hoodies or black/coloured jumpers.
Footwear: Appropriate footwear that complies with school guidelines. ONLY closed in black shoes.
Ensuring that students are dressed warmly and appropriately will help them stay comfortable and focused during their school day.
Study for Year 12 Trial HSC Examinations
Year 12 students will soon be undertaking their trial exams in Term 3. These exams are a crucial part of their preparation for final assessments, and it's essential that they are well-prepared. Here are some tips to help support your child during this period:
Study Schedule: Encourage your child to follow their study timetable that allocates sufficient time for each subject.
Healthy Habits: Ensure they maintain a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and incorporate regular exercise into their routine.
Study Environment: Provide a quiet, distraction-free space for studying at home. NO Phone use is suggested.
Resources: Remind them to make use of available resources, such as teachers, study guides, and online materials.
Your support and encouragement can make a significant difference in helping your child manage their study load and perform their best.
Looking Ahead
We are excited about the opportunities and challenges that the next term will bring. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We wish you all a safe and restful break.
Ms Nicole Best
Deputy Principal
Another very busy and successful term at KHS.
As the term draws to a close Academic Reports for Semester One for Years 7, 8 and 9 and Mid-Course for Year 10, will be released on the Sentral portal and emailed home. We had a great turn out for our two Parent Teacher Nights with lots of very good discussions occurring about how our students can continue to improve.
Please take the time to read your child’s report and discuss with them the improvement strategies each teacher has suggested.
Year 12 are continuing to progress, and most students are now completing their third Assessment Task, with only the Trial HSC Examinations to occur. These will occur in Term 3, Weeks 4 and 5 in the school hall. The timetable has been issued to all students, so they have plenty of time to start preparing.
During the upcoming two week school break, we are having Study Lock-in’s each Wednesday. Wednesday the 9th and 16th July, from 9am to 1pm in the school library. Teachers will present study seminars based on syllabus topics in preparation for the Trial HSC Examinations. I look forward to seeing lots of Year 12’s there.
I wish everyone a restful break and look forward to Term 3 starting.
