On Thursday the 24th of July, Yarrawarrah had their annual athletics carnival. We were happy to see everybody trying their hardest and giving it a go throughout the whole day. A huge amount of students participated in events ranging from the 1500m to long jump and even shotput and discus.
Our house captains came up with some fantastic chants for the day that the students used to cheer for one another and encourage their team mates to keep going. Everyone did a wonderful job in the chanting competition, with Freeman placing 1st, Bradman 2nd and Thorpe 3rd.
Many records where broken on the day in numerous events such as, the 1500m, 100m, 200m and the long jump. Congratulations to everybody who achieved zone.
Towards the end of the day our fabulous teachers decided to compete in a relay as axolotls, chickens, cows, unicorns and dogs. The chicken,(Mr Cox) was the winner and in last place came Mr K as a cow who decided to walk (apparently he was sad because his cow costume was deflated).

Thank you to Engadine High School for their very helpful Year 9 PAS students, who assisted in all events on the day. Zone qualifiers will be informed this week and ribbons for the relays, 200m-1500m and field events will be handed out next week.
Five school records were broken. Congratulations to Channing T for setting new school records for the 11 years boys 200m (29.42 - two seconds off), 800m (2:24.21 - 31 seconds off!), 1500m (5:03.89 - 1 minute and 7 seconds off!) and long jump (4.38m - 5cm more). And congratulations Zoe Y for just scraping in under the record time in the 11 years girls 1500m (6:32.38)!
Thanks,
Mr Robson
