Hello, we are 4 students from Pendle Hill High school in Year 11 Biology. This is our website for which will give insight into the life of the Cyclone Larry insect. Our website will be guiding you on our journey in helping, watching and analysing our stick insects grow. We started with a total of 20 insects. We'll be looking after them for 7 weeks, calculating their growth each week.
Our names are Riya (Far left), Nandy (Inner left), Nikita (Inner right) and Kate (Far right). We figured that the stick insects would be more interesting and a challenge for us to take on. All four of us never really had the opportunity to handle stick insects, as it was Nandy and Riya's first time. Another reason we chose stick insects is simply because we didn't want to handle and deal with worms.
We chose our name 'Inniswin' as our Insects are from Innisfail, Queensland. We didn't want to be called Innesfail, as we are not failures and do not wish to be failures, as we aspire to be winners, hence the name 'INNISWIN'.
The video to the left is one of our insects 'dancing'. We think that they do this as they are afraid to be touched or held, maybe this is a way for them to almost camouflage or protect themselves.
