Cleaning our insect's home is very important, as we have to keep our insects healthy from an uncluttered, dirty enclosure. This will keep the insects hygienic and comfortable as they adapt to their new home.
We clean our insects enclosure about 2-3 times a week, taking out their waste, replacing the eucalyptus leaves and jar of water.
Step 1: The first step of cleaning our enclosure is taking our stick insects out safely into a open container for measurements and check ups.
This is usually the longest process out of cleaning the enclosure as these insects are always crawling everywhere!
Step 2: After we take out the insects, we remove our old leaves and replace them with fresh new eucalyptus leaves from our school garden
We then pour out the old water from the jar and replace it. This is so that it can keep our eucalyptus leaves fresh and longer lasting.
Step 3: When cleaning our insect's waste, it is usually filled on the parchment paper that we put as a base for our enclosure. We take the parchment paper out and clean the sides and corners of our enclosure.
We then measure the size of the paper for fitting before we place it in the enclosure.
