Year 6 Buddies

What is a Year 6 Buddy?

Your Kinder child will be allocated a buddy from our Year 6 cohort, prior to starting school next year. This buddy system is much loved by our students, big kids and little kids alike.

Your child's Year 6 Buddy will form part of their support network at school and assist them to settle in to big school, find their way around the grounds and to form friendships in the playground. Buddy time is structured and supervised by teachers. Some buddies will share a Kinder or Year 6 person, depending on student number ratios.

It is wonderful to see the bond between these students grow across the year.

When will my child meet their buddies?

At the third orientation session, your child will meet their Year 6 buddy. These students are currently in Year 5 and can't wait to meet their little buddies. They have been busy writing letters which they will give to Kinder during the third orientation. We suggest that parents put this letter on the fridge and refer to the buddy throughout the school holidays as someone who will be a friendly and familiar face next year.

Parents/carers will get to meet the Year 6 buddy at sign-out from orientation.
