Stage 3 Teachers have created a program to help students enjoy a successful period of online learning that endeavours to maintain strong ties between the students and their teachers.
The ‘WEEKLY PLANNER” for the upcoming week of learning will be posted on this website the weekend beforehand. We recommend that parents have access to their child's work by asking to be shown their Google Classroom accounts. Over the week, students will complete a range of tasks for:
1. English – morning session
2. Mathematics – middle session
3. Other 4 key learning areas – afternoon session
Some days will be harder than others for you and your child. We totally understand the extra workload that remote learning and working from home is placing on parents and carers during this time.
It would be helpful for each student whether ‘On Site at School’ or ‘Working from Home’ to have the following equipment each day, as they will need these materials/essentials to complete the online learning lessons:
pencil case with pencils (including coloured), eraser, ruler, scissors & glue (optional)
blank and/or lined paper
a book to read
any username/passwords, e.g. Reading Eggspress, Mathletics
This term, students will need to have Mathletics, Prodigy, Reading Eggspress, Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Slides and Zoom apps installed on their iPad or accessible on their computer.
It is our aim for Stage 3 teachers to provide written feedback on one task per day. Work is still expected to be completed to a high standard (detailed – if required & quality presentation). It is important that students 'Turn In’ their work on Google Classroom for their teacher to view and monitor their learning progress.
Daily Routine (8:50am - 2:50pm)
8:50am: Check Google Classroom for announcements or messages
Complete ‘Daily Attendance’ question on Google Classroom
Read through the ‘Daily Plan’
Complete daily ‘English and Mathematics’ tasks (as many as you can), and once these are completed, they may start the other Key Learning Areas tasks.
'Turn in' their work that they have completed on their assigned google doc at the end of the week. During the week teachers will still be able to access and mark work as they are being completed.
Enjoy two sessions away from work each day - ideally away from screens: exercise and nourishment
2:45 pm – Check through your work from the ‘Daily Plan’ to finalise the learning day
2.50 pm – School is finished – Have a break…
Communication
We ask that students ask their teachers for help earlier, rather than later. Teachers are eager to ensure that students are confident navigating their way through online learning. If you wish to speak with your child’s teacher please contact the school office via email with your message dundas-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au which will be passed on to them or feel free to make contact with them on ClassDojo.
Online Safety
Keeping students safe in the online learning environment is a key priority for us. We know that most student devices and home networks do not have the same high level of monitoring and filtering that we have at school. Please check the internet security settings in place on your network to ensure your child has a safe and positive online learning experience. Please see the eSafety Commissioner’s website for more information and tips on cyber safety https://www.esafety.gov.au/
We all look forward to seeing the amazing work that our students complete over the next week.
Thank you,
Mr W Yee, Mrs K Keegan, Miss S Edwards & Mr J Dean
Stage Three Teachers
Supporting the wellbeing of children is an important part of what students, families and schools do every day. In times of uncertainty and stress, it is especially important to ensure children's wellbeing is looked after. Supporting wellbeing will help with positive interactions with others and for students to learn more effectively.
The document provided has a range of activities students can complete from home to support their wellbeing during this difficult time.
