Welcome to the DPS Remote Learning Community website. A site designed to keep our school community informed and engaged during this uncertain and unprecedented period. Donna J Abernathy said, ‘Online learning is not the next big thing, it is the now big thing’. I do not think she would have imagined the challenges schools are currently facing.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it looks like remote learning will be with us for a while. These are complex and challenging times. Times that will continue to see changes made as to how our students learn and how we communicate as a school community. To ensure that remote learning at DPS continues to be effective and meaningful, we wanted to offer our families one destination where all things concerning the remote learning program are available to support our students and parents.
Each stage has its own page where you can access your child’s learning tasks. In addition to this we have included information and resources to help your child’s wellbeing as well as ‘how to guides’ for technology platforms such as Seesaw, Zoom and the NSW DoE student portal.
If remote learning is to continue we will endeavour to upload learning tasks on Friday afternoons ready for the following week.
Dundas Public School is committed to the continuity of student learning and to providing opportunities for students to connect, succeed and thrive whilst learning from home as highly engaged learners.

During these changing times Dundas Public School will continue to provide learning activities that your child can access from home and will communicate with you about their learning. Like all schools across NSW, our teachers are currently delivering learning activities using online tools. Dundas Public School will continue to deliver one single online unit of work, meaning all children will be accessing the same work each day regardless of whether they are learning from home or are having their onsite learning day.
Our Remote Learning Community has been created as a central place for parents and carers of DPS students to support families with remote learning. There are also support resources to help you facilitate your child's learning. Each Friday we will release the following week's learning schedule. You will find your child's daily schedule under their Stage homepage.
If you have any queries about the learning activities or the online program please email us at dundas-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au. We also welcome your feedback about the way we are conducting our Learning from Home program at DPS. Please email us to let us know what you think.
Every home is different but it’s important to provide a quiet and comfortable space in which to learn.
Where possible, extended learning should take place in a space your family shares. For example, a lounge room or dining room. These spaces are preferable over a bedroom, where your child can feel isolated and supervision can be more challenging.
It should be a place:
that can be quiet at times
that has a strong internet signal, if possible
where you or another adult is present as you would normally when your child is online, dependent on age
The following link will help you understand how to help your child learn at home including:
Your responsibilities – there are things you will need to do to help your child learn from home such as setting routines, finding a quiet space and asking how their learning is progressing.
Your child’s responsibilities – your child will also need to follow the routines set for them and complete the tasks the teacher assigns doing their best work
How to plan their day – your school should give you some advice and a guide for what your child should be doing during a day
Looking after their wellbeing – you will need to make sure they have breaks, drink water and are not getting stressed or anxious
Communication – it will be important that you talk to your child regularly about their learning. Your child’s teacher and/or the school will communicate with you and tell you how to get in touch with them.
Using technology and screen time – it will be important that you supervise your child to use technology safely and put limits on the time they spend online.
