Welcome to the Community Engagement and Connectedness page. A page where we hope to share ideas, initiatives, events and programs during this challenging time of remote learning that will stengthen the partnership that exists between DPS staff and our families.
During this time of turmoil where we find ourselves stuck at home, many of us are finding some comfort in cooking meals together as a family. We all have those family recipes that we turn to that everyone loves. The staff of Dundas Public School would like to share those recipes with all of you. We hope you try them and enjoy them.
I saw a post on Facebook recently that talked about the growing numbers of children who have been admitted to the Westmead Children’s Hospital because they are sick with COVID or they have no one to care for them due to their family members being in hospitals while being sick with COVID. Staff at the hospital mentioned how these children can’t have visitors to lift their spirits and the nursing staff are trying their best to help these children emotionally as well as medically. They put a call out on social media asking for the community to send in supportive and caring messages that could be put up on the walls giving these children something lovely to look at and read.
So, this week DPS teachers rallied to the call and asked their students to put together a card, a drawing, anything they like that we could send to these children. We have large plastic tubs at every school pedestrian gate that children can open and place their messages of support and we will send them to the hospital on behalf of the Dundas community. The tubs will be placed at the gates until the end of next week (Friday, 3rd September) so we hope that everyone will get behind this wonderful initiative where every child can help to make a difference in the lives of sick children.
At the last P&C meeting it was discussed how best we, as parents might be able to show some appreciation for all the AMAZING work the teachers & support staff have been doing throughout the lockdown periods.
Keeping in mind all the current restrictions in place we thought a $50 Uber Eats gift voucher might be a nice way of saying thanks, so on Friday 27/08/2021 we sent out the following message on behalf of the all the parents with a unique code for each staff member that works for Dundas Public School. We hope that this gesture put a smile on the faces of the staff and warmed their bellies as well as going towards showing just how much we appreciate ALL they do for our children.
Our fantastic gratitude Sunflowers from our Art zoom lesson!
