1860 - First pilot at Harrington to guide shipping through the bar.
1861 - First tramway in Sydney - Taree has population of 150.
1863 - "Diamantina" carries mail weekly to Manning as far as Taree.
1865 - "Manning Times" began, with editor Horace Dean.
1870 - Manning River Steam Navigation Company begins using the "Manning".
1871 - Population of Taree 339.
1872 - Completion of transcontinental telegraph line.
1874 - Punts across most waterways of the Manning.
1877 - Population of Australia reached 2 000 000 - introduction of telephones.
1878 - Manning River Agricultural and Horticultural Association's first Show.
1879 - Crowdy Head Lighthouse built by Patrick Quinlivan.
1881 - Population of Taree 488 - First Australia-wide Census - Local horse "Zulu" wins Melbourne Cup - 3rd March "Diamantina" wrecked on Manning Bar.
1882 - Letter postage 1d, a newspaper cost 1/2d.
1884 - Vere Foster's Copybooks introduced in schools - Mark Connell ran a steamboat carrying goods to farmers and settlers, owned store in Taree.
1885 - Municipality of Taree gazetted 26th March, Henry Flett Mayor.
1886 - "S.S. Manning" conveys Sir Henry Parkes up river to Taree for visit.
1888 - Queen Victoria's Jubilee - Manning District Hospital built.
1889 - Breakwater built at Harrington - Population of Australia 3 000 000.
1890 - First Arbor Day in schools. Coopernook proclaimed a Village on 1st October.
1891 - Taree population 716 - Taree Courthouse built - Remington typewriters demonstrated for first time at Sydney Royal Easter Show.
1892 - Factory at Mitchell's Island to process cream.
1893 - N.C. Company builds "Burrawong"
1895 - Land and Income Taxes introduced.
1901 - Inauguration of Commonwealth of Australia - Taree's population 871 - bacon 8d per lb., butter 10d per lb., coffee 11 d per lb., eggs 1/4 doz., ham 8d per lb., rabbits 7d a pair, rice 2%d per lb., soap 12/6 per cwt.
1902 - "Yankee Jack" acquired for river boat cream collection - War ended.
1904 - Breakwater at Harrington finished.
1905 - First Empire Day celebrated - Electric light in Taree - Pupil-teacher system phased out in schools - Australian population 4 000 000.
1906 - First lifesaving clubs formed.
1907 - First telephone trunk line service between capital cities.
1908 - "Kincumber" wrecked at Harrington on October 22.
1909 - "Burrawong" wrecked in March at Harrington.
1910 - S.S. "Minimbah", still brand new, wrecked at Harrington.
1911 - Taree's population 1 539.
1912 - First Intermediate Certificate in High Schools - Ship fares from Sydney to Manning River were £1/2/6 single, £2/5/-return, 17/6 steerage.
1913 - Australia’s capital named Canberra – Taree railway opened.
1914 - Australia goes to war.
1915 - ANZAC established. Coopernook Railway Station opened 12th April, 1915.’
1918 - Armistice declared - Population of Australia 5 000 000 – New "Peeress” Dairy Co-op Factory opened at Mitchell's Island on November 30.
1919 - Treaty of Versailles 28th June - Ross and Keith Smith's flight from England - Average wage £3/14/11, Prime Minister earned £40/7/8 per week.
1920 - Taree's first motorised taxi owned by Bert Mitchell.
1921 - Taree had 1 765 people, 960 people in outskirts.
1923 - First sod turned Parliament House, Canberra.
1924 - Maiden voyage of "Urana" of 518 tons, between Manning and Sydney.
1925 - Australia's population 6 000 000 - New cars cost around £200-300.
1931 - Route from Sydney to Queensland border named Pacific Highway.
1932 - Sydney Harbour Bridge opened.
1933 - New Coopernook Bridge opened - Taree's population 4 581.
1934 - Inauguration of England-Australia Air Mail Service.
1936 - Severe drought of 12 years - Sewerage connected in Taree.
1937 - "Nelinga" beached at Crowdy, pulled off - "Urana" wrecked off Old Bar.
1938 - Australia celebrates 150 years since First Fleet.
1939 - Population 7 000 000 in Australia - LUar with Germany, 3rd September.
Peter's factory established in Taree - Martin Bridge commenced.
1940 - Martin Bridge opened, 17th May.
1941 - War with Japan, 9th December.
1942 - Darwin bombed - Coral Sea Battle - Japanese midget submarines in Sydney Harbour - Kokoda recaptured.
1944 - Modern factory at Manning River Co-op at Chatham - War over in Europe 8th May.
1945 - War over in Pacific.
1947 - Taree population 5 523,783 in outskirts.
1948 - 100 years of education in N.S.UJ. - 40 hour week - First Holden.
1949 - Commencement of Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Power Scheme - Population in Australia 8 000 000.
1950 - Korean War.
1951 - First Hydrogen Bomb exploded - 50th Year of Federation – Jubilee Celebrations - First Taree Aquatic Festival.
1952 - Britain's first atomic test on Monte Bello Islands.
1953 - 2RE on air - Cundletown Aerodrome office opened 28th November - Coronation of Elizabeth 11.
1954 - Petrov affair - First Taree-Sydney flight 4th March - Queen's visit to Australia - Taree has 7 404 people.
1955 - First power from Snowy River - Population 9 000 000.
1956 - Olympic Games in Melbourne - A.B.C. Television to air 5th November.
1957 - Television in Australia in time for Royal Easter Show.
1958 - First Qantas round-the-world service - Lucas Heights Reactor built.
1959 - Population 10 000 000 - N.S.UJ. workers get 3 weeks annual leave.
1962 - Wyndham Report operates - People urge Council to begin free library.
1963 - 3.F. Kennedy assassinated - Bulk collection of milk - Night landing facilities at Taree Airport.
1965 - Fokker Friendship aeroplanes introduced.
1966 - Taree population 10 559 - Decimal Currency, 14th February.
1967 - First H.S.C. Examination - Australia involved in Vietman UJar – Prime Minister Fiolt disappears.
1969 - First man landed on moon.
1970 - 200th Anniversary of Cook’s landing.
1973 - Sydney Opera House opened - Troops withdrawn from Vietnam.
1975 - Colour T.V. - Steam trains replaced by diesel.
1977 - Taree's population 12 912.
1978 - Biggest flood ever 18th-25th March.
1981 - Prince Charles married to Lady Diana Spencer, 29th July.
1982 - XPT train - Falklands War.
1983 - "Australia 11" wins America's Cup.
1985 - Unleaded petrol - "Rainbow Warrior" mined and sunk in Aukland Harbour.
1986 - Space shuttle "Challenger"explodes on launching.
1988 - Australia's Bicentenary - Tall Ships - First Fleet Re-enactment.
1990 - Coopernook's Centenary.
1993 - Aborigional People's land rights were recognised.
1996 - Massacre at the historic Port Authur site.
2000 - Olympics in Sydney.
2001 - September 11 attacks.
2008 - Prime Minister Rudd apologies to the Stolen Generation.
2017 - Same sex marriage was legalised in Australia.
2019 - Black Summer fires blanket our community, school was evacuated and closed, 33 deaths of which one was local to the Coopernook area
2012 - Coopernook was hit with once in a hundred floods, school was only reachable by boat
2023 - Soccer World Cup - Matildas made the semi finals.
