Coopernook is a small village on the Mid North Coast it has a population of 625 in 2021 and there is some interesting facts from the census, each household has 2.1 cars but only 0.7 children.
The origins of the name "Coopernook" seem to be obscure. One theory is that it is an Aboriginal word meaning "elbow" or "bend in the river", and another is that a cooper or cask maker, employed by an early pioneer named Kitz made so much noise hammering and knocking, that the settlement acquired its name from "Cooper's Knock", which then became "Coopernook".
