NSW Horticultural Industry: seeding future careers.

Students will be introduced to horticultural production and explore the variety of career opportunities in the industry in NSW and the ACT.
The Nursery & Garden Industry NSW & ACT (NGINA) is an industry-led, membership-based, not-for-profit organisation that is the peak industry body for operators in the nursery and garden sector in NSW and ACT. This can include:
growers and producers of plants
wholesalers and hirers of plants
Retailers of plants and related products
industry gardens and landscapers
allied traders—suppliers of growing media, chemicals, containers, tools and equipment, etc.
service providers including consultants, training providers, government departments, etc.
Members of NGINA range from small to medium family-based operations through to multinational corporations and all share a passion for greenlife and for the industry.

Students will be introduced to the mysterious world of mushrooms. Explore different types of mushrooms, with a lens on science, food sciences and agriculture. Students will also have the chance to explore mushroom based art.
This workshop is a 50 minute introduction to Poultry and the Centre's new Mushroom Program for 2024. This program is available as a full day incursion or semester based transdisciplinary program linked to Science and Technology.

Students will embrace the glory of soil, learning about it's essential role in supporting life on earth through the nourishment of living organisms from minuscule microbes through to epic elephants. Students will be introduced to concepts such as soil science, soil monitoring and soil management.
This workshop is a 50 minute introduction to soil and the Centre's Soils Dirty and Alive full day incursion.
