This site was designed to support students in NSW public schools to work at their own pace in developing skills coding an Arduino UNO and creating electronic circuits. It is aimed at Year 7 students and while modelled on the Crack the Code unit, the material is presented in an alternate way. If you are currently using the Crack the Code unit, you may find this material useful. There is more material on the site than many students can get through in a term, so feel free to pick and choose what you allocate to students.
The site was created using Google Sites which has some limitations when used through a NSW Department of Education account. The navigation is sometimes tricky for students and staff to grasp. Where a drop-down menu item has a down-arrow icon on the left, that arrow can be clicked to open another drop-down menu.
This site remains a work in progress. If you have or use any resources you think could be helpful to students, I would be happy to include them in the site. If your students have issues understanding or using the content on any page, please let me know and I will endeavour to clarify the information presented. The site was constructed prior to implementation of the unit in late 2018 and used successfully throughout 2019 by Year 7 students at Gosford High School. Some resources are included to support students continuing to work from home, whether or not they have an Arduino at hand. The online platform, Tinkercad Circuits, is used to write code and simulate the circuit inputs and outputs on screen. I am still working on further material in this regard and would appreciate any input! I am also in the process of ensuring all videos are accessible to all students by moving them to Google Drive as other platforms have posed issues. Please advise me if items are inaccessible.
Teachers can contact me to provide feedback and also to request support materials, including a sample teaching program, via email. Find my email by searching the NSW Department of Education staff portal as indicated in the image below.
