Students are able to be dropped off at our gate in Gladstone Park. A teacher will supervise students from 8:30am, however, parents are welcome to wait inside school grounds until the bell rings.
A typical Kindergarten backpack should include: a hat, a lunch box, a water bottle, a change of clothes, and a plastic bag.
The Balmain PS morning bell begins to ring at 8.55am. During this time students line up at designated areas in the playground. Teachers promptly collect their students and guide them into the classrooms.
If your child is sick or absent from school, please notify teachers as soon as possible with a valid explanation. This should be done via the School Bytes app, under the section 'Attendance'.
Justified reasons for student absences may include:
being sick or having an infectious disease
having an unavoidable medical appointment
being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
If you are running late in the morning, please take your child to the gate beside the office and press the buzzer. The office staff will sign your child in and they will then be escorted to class.
If you are running late in the afternoon, please notify the office as soon as possible. Teachers frequently have meetings after school and are not always able to freely stay with your child until you arrive. Phone contact is preferred, as we may not be able to check our email during the day.

Helpful Tips:
Use easy-to-open containers and practise opening them at home
Pack just enough food
Often, at some point in the year, your child's appetite may change (more/less hungry)
Students are encouraged to take food home and let you know if they do not like it
Canteen is available for pre-ordered lunch orders (Friday). Orders are placed online using Spriggy Schools.

Due to children with food allergies and anaphylaxis (which can be life-threatening), we ask that you do not give your child food products containing nuts. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
