Skiff restoration

In 2023, the school's four oared rowing boat, known as a St Ayle's skiff, was returned to the Australian National Maritime Museum for restoration.

The boat which was donated to the school is intended for use by students in exploring environmental aspects of the foreshore.

The restoration was undertaken by Matt McKinley from ANMM.

The skiff was originally built in 2020, when a small group of students were taught boat building skills over a 5 month period by Senior Shipwright Cody Horgan in association with ANMM.

We greatly appreciate the Australian National Maritime Museum for their teaching of Australia’s maritime history and use in such an exciting and hands-on way. We are especially grateful to Cody Horgan for his expertise, patience and kindness in teaching our students the skills of boat building.
