Crane

Sydney Secondary College Balmain Campus is in a quite unique position in that it has direct access to the water from school grounds. In previous years the school has built a wharf to improve accessibility of the water, and this has improved the ability of students to use water craft such as kayaks, but larger, heavy craft have still been difficult to use.

A Jarrett backsaver crane has been installed as part of the Balmain Foreshore Project to enable larger boats to be lifted into and out of the water. This has been installed to coincide with the timing of the return of the St Ayles Skiff following restoration by the Australian National Maritime Museum, to enable it to be used and then elevated, removed from the water and securely stored.

We would like to extend our thanks to Miguel Perez for the installation of the crane.
