Several factors were considered when determining which Live Challenge categories would make it STLP@Home:
Continuity of Experience - several of the Live Challenge categories required on-site demonstrations of skill that could not practically be transitioned to an all-digital format given current time constraints
Availability of category leads - most of the STLP category leads are also district ed-tech leaders. Many are simply unable to dedicate the sufficient time to organizing an STLP category in the midst of the COVID-19 emergency and district demands
All students rosters that were pulled from the original STLP State Championship registration back in March will simply forward to become the STLP@Home participant rosters for the upcoming challenges. There is no additional registration for Challenges at this time.
Unfortunately, not all challenges will be offered this year. But don't worry... most Live Challenges will return for 2021 STLP State and many still are planning alternative opportunities for when the COVID-19 social distancing standards are eventually relaxed (such as RCX).
Unfortunately, since all the participant rosters are already in place and there is not an additional registration option, we're not accepting new participants at this time. Thank you for understanding.
Right now, several leads are finalizing updated scoring rubrics for their challenge category. Each category lead will handle the process for their challenge differently. Watch for emails from each category lead to come to the STLP Coaches with info on how their challenge will be held. In turn, STLP Coaches will communicate directly with the pre-registered students. State Champs will be announced Friday, May 8th.
Category Leads are being creative with how participants can share their skills via differeint mediums. Some will utilize video conference while others will invite participants to submit a recording of their presentation. Bottom line: each Challenge will be different.
As will all things STLP, updated rubrics will be linked via the STLP Super Sheet.
NOTE: Some districts still restrict student access to shared resources from outside your district. This means that many times, students in those districts are unable to review items on the STLP Super Sheet. If students are using a district managed Chromebook or Google account while at home, those restrictions from your district may still be in place. Please, feel free to make copies of rubrics to share with students from your own, teacher level, drives as needed.
