STLP partnerships are not viewed as vendor gifts/donations for any competitive purposes with services provided to schools, districts, and/or KDE.
Is this the same as sponsorship?
No. STLP is seeking active partners who provide learning experiences, challenges, expertise, staffing, or volunteer support.
Can our activity include our company name?
Possibly, when appropriate and approved by STLP.
Can we hand out promotional materials?
Only if appropriate and secondary to the learning activity. STLP is not a vendor fair.
Can we collect student contact information?
No, not without prior approval. Direct marketing to students is not appropriate.
Can we take photos or videos?
Only with prior approval and in alignment with KDE/STLP expectations.
Does partnering with STLP help with KDE or district procurement?
No. Participation does not imply endorsement, preferred vendor status, special treatment, or procurement advantage.
What expenses are partners responsible for?
Partners are generally responsible for activity-specific materials, supplies, staffing, equipment, travel, and setup needs unless otherwise approved.
What does STLP/KDE provide?
Depending on the activity, STLP/KDE may provide space, basic event support, promotion, basic AV/internet when available, and coordination guidance.
What happens if we need to withdraw?
Partners should notify STLP as early as possible. Once an activity has been promoted to schools, withdrawal creates problems for students and coaches and should be avoided except in unavoidable circumstances.
Can we start small?
Yes! Many organizations may begin with volunteer support or an STLPx activity before moving into a larger challenge or year-round partnership.
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) Office of Education Technology (OET) and the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) maintain a vendor-neutral approach to all partnerships, sponsorships, donations, and collaborative activities.
Participation in STLP does not provide, imply, or create any competitive advantage regarding the purchase, recommendation, selection, procurement, endorsement, or use of products or services by KDE, Kentucky school districts, schools, or educators.
Organizations that provide financial support, in-kind donations, volunteer assistance, educational experiences, or event sponsorships are recognized for their contributions to student learning and engagement. Such support is not considered, and should not be interpreted as, an attempt to influence purchasing decisions, procurement processes, vendor evaluations, or future business opportunities with KDE, Kentucky school districts, or Kentucky schools.
All purchasing and procurement decisions remain subject to applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. STLP partnerships are established solely to support student learning, leadership, innovation, and engagement opportunities for Kentucky students.
