Last week I had the opportunity to interview Josefina Pajuelo, a really passionate nurse.
I started the talk by asking her when did she start working, and she told me that she had started working as a nurse the 1st of July 1991, at the ICU of Mérida’s Hospital. She declared that it was a day she would never forget
I wondered why she chose that degree, and she stated that she had chosen it because since she had been a child, she had always liked healing wounds and she had always been interested in everything related to medicine. She explained that when someone in her family had been ill and had had to get injections, she had always paid attention
So when she had finished Bachillerato and her university entrance exam, she had decided she would dedicate her life to be a nurse
I wanted to know if she liked her job, and she declared that she loved it. She stated that being a nurse and keeping in touch with patients enriched you professionally and personally. They passed to be part of your life. She stated that the feeling she got when a patient left the hospital was unexplainable, but also the sadness she felt when a patient passed away was hard to avoid.
Despite everything, she admitted that she really liked her job and that her work partners were her second family. She declared that she was really proud of being a nurse!
