The following timeline outlines the process. Plesae note the school doesn't have a reserve list; students who have completed placement testing are either offered a place or not. A student who has listed Hvitfeldtska IB as their first choice will come to know if they have been offered a place or not in INDRA.
Early November: Hvitfeldtska's own application opens for the 2026-2027 school year.
December 9: The City of Gothenburg's high school application system INDRA opens for students to apply.
February 2: The INDRA application portal closes. If you need to apply or make changes to your application after this date, you must get your guidance counselor ("SYV") to help you. If you are not at a 9th grade program in Sweden, then you will take contact directly with the central admissions office.
Please note, if you are applying from outside of the EU, the February 2 date is your only deadline. Circumstances may vary, however, the school reserves the right to no longer accept applications from outside of the EU after February 1st. This is due to the exceptionally long period it takes for other paperwork to be processed for student residency permits.
February through March : Hvitfeldtska will publish the admissions testing date on the website here. Applicants will get an email as well. Students must take the admissions test to be considered for placement.
April 16: Preliminary intake is published in INDRA and what is visible is the results from your first choice program. You can log in from 1300 CET to see the intake decision. (If you applied to Grade 10 from outside of Sweden, you created an account on the paper form you had to scan and send to the city of Gothenburg.)
If you are offered a place, you have to accept or decline the offer.
Based on what you see or what your educational goals are, you may make adjustments to ranking: i.e. move Hvitfeldtska IB to first choice or 2nd or 3rd choice, etc.
If you are not offered a place, the process isn't necessarily over because students who have been offered a place may decline or change their ranking order.
June 1**: Last day to apply to the International Baccalaureate and still be called to placement testing.
Sometime between June 1 and June 25: Hvitfeldtska will have another placement testing date for students who didn't get a chance to test earlier. Students must take the admissions test to be considered for placement.
June 25: Final intake information is published in INDRA. You can log in from 1300 CET to see the intake decision. From now till July 2 you can accept or reject the offer, if there is one.
July 2: Last day for applicants to accept or reject an offer in Indra, if there is one.
**IMPORTANT: Anyone who is applying after June 1st, also send an email direclty to the Principal at krista.baker@educ.goteborg.se.
The timeline is essentially the same as above except that there is rolling/ongoing placement offers: As soon as a the student's prior grades have come in and the testing is completed, the school will inform the student as soon as possible if they can offer a place or not.
The admissions testing dates will be updated to the website (see Admissions Tests).
Applicants will find the following three pages of this website essential:
Which subjects will you choose? Take a quiz and submit your draft subject request. Students are highly encouraged to complete this part first.
Please note that a late start to Grade 11 is not permitted under any circumstances. This is important to keep in mind if you are applying from outside of the EU. In order for all of the processes to work out in time, students from outside of the EU will need to have applied by February 1st. Circumstances may vary, but the school reserves the right to no longer accept applicants after February 1st if they are applying from outside of the EU. This is due to the exceptionally long period it takes for other paperwork to be processed for student residency permits.
