MA Liberal Arts - University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow has six new Liberal Arts MA programmes, launching in September 2026 www.gla.ac.uk/undergraduate/degrees/liberal-arts/#tab=degrees:
Liberal Arts with Comparative Literature, UCAS code LA21
Liberal Arts with English Literature, LA31
Liberal Arts with Film & Television Studies, LA41
Liberal Arts with History, LA51
Liberal Arts with Philosophy, LA61
Liberal Arts with Theatre Studies, LA71
Designed for students with wide-ranging curiosity, these programmes offer a flexible, and interdisciplinary path through the arts and humanities. Dr Greg Kerr, Senior Lecturer at UofG shares his insights into the new degrees: “Liberal Arts at Glasgow is a highly flexible degree, allowing students to take options based on their interests from across a very wide breadth of subjects in the College of Arts and Humanities. Unlike conventional degree structures, the breadth of available options increases as students’ progress through the programme. Liberal Arts is also interdisciplinary. It encourages students to experiment with methodologies and insights from different subjects, and to think across disciplinary boundaries. Finally, Liberal Arts at Glasgow engages contemporary questions of global concern and social responsibility. With core courses on themes such as the environment, migration, social justice, intercultural awareness and wellbeing, it offers an authentically twenty-first century approach to the arts and humanities.”
